
Safety Critical Task Analysis is a process of breaking down tasks, step by step, to determine which elements are safety critical and could contribute to a major accident or affect a safety critical element. We are trained in this area and can carry out analysis or facilitate and support your teams in this area to identify layers of protection in order to reduce the likelihood or consequences of human failure.

We can offer support in writing and reviewing Standard Operating Procedures and Safety Critical Procedures based on Human Factors Principles aligned with guidance from the HSE, Chemical Industries Association (CIA) and the Energy Institute.

Competence Management is a blend of technical and non-technical skills which allow staff to undertake responsibilities and perform activities to a recognised standard on a regular basis. We are trained to carry out Competence Assessments and can provide support in building a Competence Management System to ensure that competence is implemented and maintained in the long term.
We are experienced in Team Management and can work with you to develop succession plans for your group, providing a tool for monitoring and developing competencies within the team, allowing a clear overview of the skills and opportunities that exist and where there are gaps that need attention. Succession plans can link with Organisational Risk Assessments and Role Maps to give a full end to end package for staff development and robust, safe operations.

Role Maps are a useful tool for role sizing and handovers. They can document key tasks within a role which a Manager can use for role development and cover considerations. We can provide experienced support in this area, leading, facilitating and documenting sessions and training end users.

Working with you to developing Business Process Maps to enable you to gain a clear view of what really happens within a process. Mapping the As-Is and the To-Be provides opportunities to question if steps in the process are really valued and if they can be made more efficient. Business Process Maps can also provide a good basis for training and handovers.
